In the tradition of the Kano Pillars Sports Club, the basketball team presented the 2017 Kwese Premier Basketball League Championship Trophy to the Executive Governor of the state at a dinner hosted by the state Governor at the Government House, Kano.

In appreciation of the performance of the team during the 2017 season, the Governor announced a sum of N500,000 for each player, N700,000 for the Head Coach, N350,000 each for the two assistant coaches, N300,000 each for the team Doctor, Secretary and Assistant Secretary, and N100,000 for the team driver. The Governor also allocated plots of land within the Kano city to member of the basketball team.

Kano Pillars received a N20m cash prize as winners of the 2017 Kwese Premier Basketball League, the 7th in franchise history and will represent Nigeria alongside Gombe Bulls, Mark Mentors, Civil Defenders and River Hoopers at the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Zone 3 Qualifiers.

The Kano Pillars Para Soccer team also got over N1m courtesy of the Kano State Government.
